On July 30th and 31st, Bright Prospect collaborated with the Pomona First Baptist Church for its annual China in Pomona Program. Over 100 Chinese students visiting Pomona had the opportunity to speak and interact with Bright Prospect high school and college students. Students first played games, such as Musical Chairs, Human Knot, and Zip Zap Zop. Afterwards, the event coordinators Daniela Luna (Occidental College ’15) and Minh Hoang (Haverford College ’15) delivered a small presentation explaining the American high school system and social life. The program continued with a drawing activity to allow all the students to express their creativity, followed by discussions amongst the groups. The program ended with one last game that allowed the students to bond with each other. Students from both countries took the opportunity to learn more about one another’s culture. Inri Contancio (Lewis and Clark ’15) said “I thought it was a really great program just for the fact that I got to learn a lot from them and they got to learn a lot from us.”
