Bright Prospect hosted the Pre-College CrewsTM  Retreat for incoming college students. 125 students from the Pomona, Montclair and Ontario area attended the event at Pomona College from July 10-12. The retreat kicked off on Wednesday with the parent meeting. Bright Prospect Program Director Timothy Sandoval explained that the meeting was designed to reassure parents that Bright Prospect would continue to be there for their child’s educational career. Parents were also able to ask questions regarding college life, financial aid and potential challenges. Thursday was a unique day for students because they met their new college crews, upperclassmen college crew leaders, and also found out who their staff “coach” would be. Friday, the third and final day of the retreat, discussed the roles, responsibilities and expectations of participating in a crew. Last but certainly not least, who could forget everyone’s favorite part, “The No-Talent Talent Show”. Each crew came up with a unique skit or performance to demonstrate their team spirit which engaged the entire auditorium. After the Pre-College CrewsTM Retreat, these students should be ready for their first year of college. We look forward to hearing from them when they come home.
